Album Synopsis
DNA is a deeply personal, rhythm-driven jazz album exploring heritage, identity, and cultural memory. Inspired by Terence Collie’s Seychellois Creole roots, the record blends modern jazz language with global rhythmic sensibilities, foregrounding groove, melody, and collective interaction.
Entirely acoustic in conception and execution, DNA places touch, feel, and ensemble interplay at its core. The music draws on jazz, blues, African and Creole rhythms, and folk influences, shaped into compositions that feel both grounded and contemporary. While expanding on the narrative ambition of Collie’s previous album Elements, DNA represents a more rhythm-centred, ensemble-led statement — intimate in intent, expansive in sound.
Recorded at Real World Studios and mixed by Grammy-winning engineer Katie May, DNA captures a warm, detailed sonic palette that allows the music’s rhythmic vitality and emotional clarity to speak directly to the listener.
